LIM College – Where Business Meets Fashion is currently seeking candidates for the position of Academic Director: Business of Cannabis.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

LIM College educates students for success in the global business of fashion and its many related industries. Located in midtown Manhattan – the fashion capital of the world – and devoted exclusively to the study of business and fashion, LIM College fosters a unique connection between real-world experience and academic study in business principles. Undergraduate students may major in Fashion Media, Fashion Merchandising, International Business, Management, Marketing, Visual Studies, Business of Fashion, or Business of Cannabis. At the graduate level, LIM College offers an MPS programs in Fashion Marketing, Fashion Merchandising & Retail Management, Global Fashion Supply Chain Management, and Consumer Analytics.

LIM College is launching a BBA degree in the Business of Cannabis in fall 2022. In addition, plans are underway to offer a certificate program as well as a graduate degree in this field. To support this work, the College is seeking a new member of the team with expertise in the field of cannabis to serve as the Academic Director, content expert and advisor on this expanding area of education for the institution. The incumbent will play an invaluable role in identifying opportunities and launching initiatives in this growing area at the College. The Academic Director will hire and supervise adjuncts, design curriculum, advise students on educational programs and career options. The Academic Director will establish industry relationships and represent LIM College with external stakeholders in the business of cannabis. The Academic Director should be a person with an entrepreneurial spirit who understands the valuable role education can play in the world of cannabis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Assist in the development and coordination of all cannabis programs (both credit and non-credit)
Engage with professional cannabis organizations to stay abreast of industry trends to keep the cannabis curriculum relevant
Help interview and recruit prospective faculty
Act as the point person for the cannabis degree, working with adjunct faculty to ensure a quality education for our students
Serve as an academic resource with prospective and continuing students
Collaborate with Marketing and Communications and Enrollment Services to help support recruitment efforts
Partner with the Offices of Career and Internship Services, and External Relations and Alumni Affairs on ensuring strong relationships and partnerships with industry.
Teach 1 class per semester
Work closely with students outside of the classroom as a mento
Assist Chair in department administration as needed
Work closely with other faculty (adjunct and full time) as a mentor and resource
Serve on College-wide committees
Contribute to learning outcomes assessment
Observe faculty classroom teaching as needed
Participate in College wide programs
Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s required
College level teaching experience is preferable but not required
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the cannabis industry
Experience working in business is preferable but not required
Business writing and presentation experience

PAY WAGE or SALARY:
