  • Post-Harvest Manager at Cannabis Cultivation Facility in Benton Harbor Michigan.


  • Post-Harvest Manager is responsible for all post-harvest activities including, but not limited to harvest, trimming, curing, quality control, packaging, product transfer facilitation, and waste processing/reporting.
  • This individual is also responsible for the management of employees implementing the tasks described above.
  • A key responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety of all consumer products by designing, implementing, and tracking strategic facility sanitation practices.


  • Stay current and adhere to all relevant federal, LARA, and municipal regulations.
  • Encourage and maintain an environment of high integrity to optimize product quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Create/implement/maintain post-harvest best practices and compliant/effective standard operating procedures
  • Manage all post-harvest duties and employees.
  • Communicate resource and staffing needs to the Facility Manager and HR Administrator as needed.
  • Responsible for all post-harvest production support; including but not limited to inventory management, harvesting, trimming, curing, packaging, product transfers, quality control, sanitation, waste management, order fulfillment, and facility sanitation/maintenance.
  • Review productivity measurements including trimming productivity, delivery times, net production, material usage, spoilage, and quality.
  • Develop and implement operational workflow and standard operating procedures for all post-harvest positions, monitor effectiveness, and update as needed.
  • Must maintain a culture of professionalism at all times.
  • Project and communicate production levels over time and assist the Facility Manager in identifying strategies to maximize available resources.
  • Implement safe and compliant product storage and quality control strategies to combat pests, mold, powdery mildew, fungus, and other contaminants.
  • Catalog and analyze all post-harvest strains to identify those that will enhance productivity and quality. Communicate such data to the Head Grower/Grow Manager.
  • Source cost-effective and environmentally sustainable packaging supplies.
  • Manage and maintain post-harvest inventory management documentation.
  • Hire, train, facilitate post-harvest employee disciplinary action, and terminate employees as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of LARA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA,) Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA,) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,) Worker Protection Standards (WPS,) and Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development regulations.
  • Design and implement procedures to operate, clean, and store equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Must maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of facility sanitation standards.
  • Oversee the reporting of required inventory management data in Metrc.
  • Effectively manage and maintain relevant facility records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Foster a positive and communicative work environment.
  • Encourage and assist staff with obtaining continuing education.
  • Assist the Facility HR Administrator with the maintenance of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA,) Michigan Occupational Health and Safety Administration (MIOSHA,) Compliance Strategies and required documentation.
  • Assist with regular OSHA and MIOSHA compliance audits as needed.
  • Facilitate training for post-harvest staff when necessary.
  • Obtain continuing education to identify innovative techniques and strategies for optimal post-harvest processing.
  • Review, maintain, update training and Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  • Assist with employee inquiries regarding post-harvest operations and best practices.
  • Communicate resource and staffing needs to the Facility Manager and HR Administrator as needed.
  • Assist the Facility Manager in creating/maintaining facility policies and monitoring/upholding standards.
  • Assist the Facility Manager in managing supply and inventory levels.
  • Encourage and support open communication with employees to ensure a fair and friendly environment.
  • Lead employees to take actions that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy and values.
  • Must adhere to the company’s stated Equality and Diversity and Drug-Free Workplace policies.
  • Monitor Profit and Loss (P&L) reports and evaluate performance against established departmental expectations including, but not limited to production and quality goals.
  • Follow the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Follow all company Crisis Response Procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Commercial Cannabis Cultivation Facility experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Commercial Post-Harvest experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Personnel Management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Inventory Management experience.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of effective post-harvest best practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to pass a background check with no pending charges or convictions within the past 10 years for a controlled substance-related felony.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must not be registered as a primary caregiver or must withdraw registration as a registered primary caregiver prior to accepting an official Offer of Employment.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the cannabis industry and the associated federal, state, and local municipal laws and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of harvesting, trimming, curing, quality control, packaging, product transfer facilitation, and waste processing/reporting.
  • Strong counting, tracking, and inventory management skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, friendly environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with a diverse team.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player.
  • Qualified applicants have an aptitude for comprehending compliance and the ability to adhere to a regulatory framework by creating, monitoring, and updating internal procedures as needed.
