POSITION OBJECTIVE:

  • The Head Extractor/Extraction Manager is the departmental manager with regard to the production of C02 extractions for the business.
  • This individual will create and implement best practices and standard operations that will maximize production, quality, safety, and compliance whilst minimizing inputs and costs.
  • This individual will provide daily leadership and direction on how to meet company standards and achieve production goals and will regularly communicate progress to the Facility Manager and the owners.
  • This individual will manage an extraction facility containing heavy machinery and will supervise all extraction activities, waste tracking and disposal, and inventory management activities for the facility.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of 4 years of Commercial Cannabis Extraction experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Commercial Cannabis Production experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Primary Caregiver.
  • Must be able to pass a background check with no pending charges or convictions within the past 10 years for a controlled substance-related felony.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must not be registered as a primary caregiver or must withdraw registration as a registered primary caregiver prior to accepting an official Offer of Employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the cannabis industry and the associated federal, state, and local municipal laws and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of extraction techniques, quality assurance/control, and common contaminants.
  • Strong counting, tracking, and inventory management skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, friendly environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with a diverse team.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player.
  • Qualified applicants have an aptitude for comprehending compliance and the ability to adhere to a regulatory framework by creating, monitoring, and updating internal procedures as needed.
  • Must follow all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objective.

DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Stay current and adhere to all relevant federal, LARA, and municipal regulations.
  • Encourage and maintain an environment of high integrity to optimize product quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Manage all extraction duties and employees.
  • Communicate resource and staffing needs to the Facility Manager and HR Administrator as needed.
  • Create/implement/maintain standard extraction of best practices and compliant/effective standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for extraction production; including but not limited to inventory management, production scheduling, materials acquisition, quality assurance/control, potential contaminants, waste management, sanitation, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop and implement operational workflow and standard operating procedures for all extraction positions, monitor effectiveness, and update as needed.
  • Must maintain a culture of professionalism at all times.
  • Maximize production yields while striving to minimize material inputs.
  • Project and communicate production levels over time and assist the Facility Manager in identifying strategies to maximize available resources.
  • Identify and develop safe and compliant quality assurance/control strategies to combat contamination and protect public safety.
  • Catalog and analyze all production batches to identify/mitigate issues and enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of LARA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,) Worker Protection Standards (WPS,) and Michigan/Berrien County Department of Health regulations.
  • Manage and maintain extraction department inventory management documentation, specifically including that related to raw materials and extraction production.
  • Hire, train, facilitate employee disciplinary action, and terminate employees as needed.
  • Must maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of facility sanitation standards.
  • Oversee the reporting of required inventory management data in METRC.
  • Effectively manage and maintain relevant facility records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Foster a positive and communicative work environment.
  • Encourage and assist staff with obtaining continuing education.
  • Assist the Facility HR Administrator with the maintenance of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA,) Michigan Occupational Health and Safety Administration (MIOSHA,) Compliance Strategies and required documentation.
  • Assist with regular OSHA and MIOSHA compliance audits as needed.
  • Facilitate training for extraction staff when necessary.
  • Obtain continuing education to identify innovative techniques and strategies for optimal production.
  • Review, maintain, update training, and Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  • Assist with employee inquiries regarding extraction operations and best practices.
  • Communicate staffing needs to the Facility Manager and HR Administrator as needed.
  • Assist the Facility Manager in creating/maintaining facility policies and monitoring/upholding standards.
  • Assist the Facility Manager in managing supply and inventory levels.
  • Encourage and support open communication with employees to ensure a fair and friendly environment.
  • Lead employees to take actions that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy and values.
  • Must adhere to the Company’s stated Equality and Diversity and Drug-Free Workplace policies.
  • Monitor Profit and Loss (P&L) reports and evaluate performance against established departmental expectations including, but not limited to production and quality goals.
  • Follow the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objective.
  • Follow all company Crisis Response Procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be an expert in commercial cannabis extraction.
