JOB & CAREER SUMMARY:

  • Technical Laboratory Director (TLD) must have a strong background in Residual Solvents, Heavy Metals, Pesticide, and/or Potency analysis.
  • The TLD will execute a variety of laboratory tasks under the direction of our Management Team.
  • The TLD will be responsible for assisting in product processing and formulation.
  • The TLD completes tasks assigned by the Management Team to operate lab equipment, monitor and maintain cleanliness and efficiency, and drives quality control while always being compliant.
  • This individual must be able to multitask, work quickly and efficiently, and be adaptable to changing priorities and tasks as needed.
  • Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to interact with managers to set schedules and ensure proper execution of workflow tasks by other employees.
  • The individual must be motivated, trustworthy, and able to operate both independently and within a team environment.
  • Communication skills are a must, this individual will be the on-site liaison for management and laboratory staff.
  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days will vary due to business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform GC/LC/MS analysis, and oversee the review and approval of data under ISO0725 accreditation standards.
  • Carries out responsibilities as assigned by the Site Operations Director.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control.
  • Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide feedback to the Laboratory Management Team and fellow colleagues in support of our continuous improvement goals.
  • Recognize and report any issues, large or small.
  • Perform lab bench work, data compilation, and data analysis in accordance with quality control specifications.
  • Assist in the shipping and receiving department as needed.
  • Execute the preparation of test samples.
  • Execute proper labeling and storage of samples.
  • Complete all work orders for samples in an efficient and timely manner, meeting all necessary deadlines.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, purchases, and repairs with the Laboratory Management Team as needed.
  • Execute and enforce compliance of all ISO 17025, local, and state regulations.
  • Follow weekly schedules to ensure there is proper coverage based on the business needs.
  • Conveys information to analysts and other employees in the facility.
  • Ensures that:
    • all validation data are recorded and dated to ensure compliance;
    • all data and final reports are verified and validated;
    • all reports generated from this data are complete and contain pertinent information.
    • Follows through with customers regarding content of reports and discusses any irregularities or concerns.
  • Ensures that:
    • the laboratory is equipped with all necessary equipment and accompanying material and consumables;
    • all the equipment, materials and consumables will meet the specifications of the analytical methods employed to conduct the SOPs;
    • all equipment and process validations are performed as per SOPs;
    • all validation data are recorded and dated to ensure compliance;
    • all data and final reports are verified and validated;
    • all laboratory data is reported in a timely manner;
    • all data are accurate and validated consistent to assigned SOPs;
    • all analyses performed by the staff have been dated and tracked for authenticity;
    • all experimental details and resulting data entries in laboratory notebooks and/or forms are authentic;
    • all reports generated from this data are complete and not lacking pertinent information;
    • all equipment is maintained and calibrations conducted on a set routine basis to ensure that the SOPs can be performed to instruction;
    • all materials and consumables necessary to conduct all procedures are in ready supply as well as have a routine re-supply system.
  • Reviews data including QC documentation to ensure that:
    • all analytical data and information provided by the analysts and other employees is complete and accurate;
    • the data gathering is completed in a timely manner consistent with the demands of the customers;
    • the data is obtained and recorded in a manner that is consistent with all recording procedures that are established and documented, including data logbooks and electronic files;
    • all analytical findings are reviewed and the relevant conclusions drawn and recorded for final report generation.
  • Facility Cleaning:
    • Perform all assigned duties required to ensure a clean and safe facility.
    • Ensure personal hygiene is acceptable under state and Company standards before performing any activities by washing hands frequently and using proper PPE.
    • Complete the sanitation of all production equipment and tools including workspace, lab equipment, containers, and appliances.
    • Monitor, clean, and maintain all equipment and operate all equipment safely in its intended manner.
    • Always ensure compliance with all sanitation regulations and safety standards in the testing of all samples.
    • Perform duties as needed outlined in the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
    • Ensure other employees are following all appropriate sanitation procedures and PPE usage.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Chemistry.
  • 4 years of experience in a production-driven laboratory.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
  • Proficiency in windows-based software.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and other repetitive motions.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 75 pounds (or more with assistance).
  • Strong odors and varying room temperatures will occur on a daily basis. This position setting is in a general Lab setting.
