JOB TITLE:

  • Chief Financial Officer

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the CEO in raising capital in the private and public markets.
  • Communicate, engage, and interact with the CEO, COO, and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Be able to speak with authority on the business model and financial model to institutional investors and analysts.
  • Represent the Company and future financial performance to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, public officials, etc.
  • Analyze acquisition targets, joint ventures, and strategic investments.
  • Create and establish weekly, monthly, and yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software.
  • Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. 
  • Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing efficiency.
  • Develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Manage the annual budgeting processes including monthly updates throughout each year, measuring variances, and identifying potential areas of concern or opportunity.
  • Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.
  • Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
  • Engage the finance committee of the board of directors to develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
  • Serve as the final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. 
  • CPA/MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of complex financial management experience.
  • Areas of expertise include financial and cost accounting, cash management, financial and resource planning systems, and tax compliance.
  • Experience with all Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), preferred experience with Microsoft Dynamics. Previous work with ERP/Planning Systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivator with high attention to detail.
  • Love & a passion for working in the cannabis industry.
