DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for training and oversight supervision of all laboratory staff and for ensuring that the laboratory achieves and maintains quality standards of practice.
  • Follow and maintain SOPs for State-mandated tests which include, but are not limited to, — potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, mycotoxins, and microbiology.
  • Assuring that testing equipment and instruments are properly maintained and calibrated to assure the highest accuracy in testing quality.
  • Maintain and possible method development specific testing procedures that may include, but are not limited to, Cannabinoid testing.
  • Provide high-level commentary on CoAs. Responds to potential questions involving CoAs. Communicate with Chief Executive Officer. Communicates with industry entities as needed to support CoAs.
  • Provides high-level commentary on vital issues. Responds to questions involving cannabis CoAs issues – internal and external. Communicates to Chief Executive Officer. Communicate with outside industry entities as needed.
  • Proactively identifies the need for analysis of potential safety issues. Communicates the results of the analysis to the Chief Executive Officer as needed.
  • Serves as a key advisor in management review meetings.
  • Advises in business-critical, high risk or high visibility client issues test issues, provides authoritative opinion; anticipates challenges and poses unasked questions; may request additional investigation; provides critical review at all phases of the lab.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. and/or MD in a technical, scientific, or medical field.
  • 15+ years of experience building out product research and discovery capabilities, strategies, and organizational structures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Prior experience with establishing and advancing industry partnerships is strongly desired.
  • Extensive leadership and management skills. Personable with solid team skills and works well in a highly innovative environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multiple functions, build effective relationships and influence the decisions of a team.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience building and running a medical/scientific advisory board.
  • Desired experience in due diligence of business development opportunities.
