JOB TITLE:

  • Formulation Specialist

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures weights, measures, and raw materials are managed appropriately to assure batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities.
  • Keep a running log of raw isolate inventory.
  • Mixing/blending of isolates to make a finished product with tight error margins.
  • Documenting, tracking, and directing all R&D batch details.
  • Understanding the math and costing behind the creation of all new products.
  • Creating professional proposals for product lines and ideas for the executive team to review.
  • Staying updated and trained on all necessary compliance issues.
  • Having more than a basic understanding of essential oils and their purposes.
  • Keeping accurate information on supplements in-house and what they are used for.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related scientific discipline, preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of process/formulation experience preferred.
  • Excellent formulation development skills covering specialty formulations, including emerging technologies (e.g., polymer-based delivery, microspheres, lyophilization, etc.).
  • Strong experience and knowledge of aseptic processing practices and requirements for aseptic manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in data interpretation for various analytical techniques, including HPLC, LC-MS, FTIR, DSC, and DLS.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements, and ICH/FDA Guidelines.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and data analysis/interpretation.
  • Creative thinking, technical writing, and organizational skills.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The work environment is the typical laboratory and manufacturing environment. The employee must complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, dust, chemicals, machinery, high voltage equipment, OSHA hazards, employees walking through and conversing, conversations carrying over, and interruptions requiring the employee to answer questions from others.
