JOB TITLE:

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages daily operations of the department, including ensuring process efficiency, that necessary supplies are stocked, and that talent is allocated appropriately to suit production needs.
  • Manages plant scheduling to accurately project all facility requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to maximize high-quality yield with efficiency and attention to production costs.
  • Responsible for review and revisions of all SOPs related to greenhouse operations.
  • Ensure all direct reports are trained and in compliance with all relevant SOPs, Best practices, and Fertigation.
  • Monitor and document plant development and communicate with the Director of Greenhouse Operations and/or Master Horticulturist as needed.
  • Provide leadership for problem and conflict resolution.
  • Executes preventative maintenance programs including the elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, root aphids, fungus gnats, etc.
  • Completes periodic departmental audits as needed; complies with related recordkeeping requirements including movement logs, waste logs, and task assignments.
  • Ensure compliance under GACP regulations and strive for GAP/GMP compliance where possible.
  • Provide a weekly Summary of Crop Status to the Director of Greenhouse Operations/Master Horticulturist.
  • Provide /propose operational improvements related to Plant Health.
  • Perform any other tasks as required by the Director of Greenhouse Operations.
  • Maintains or obtains industry credentials as needed.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Degree in Horticulture, Biology, Plant Science, or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing commercial-scale cannabis cultivation facilities is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IPM systems and growing methods.
  • Demonstrated passion for plants and cannabis product knowledge desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to think critically, problem-solve, make strategic decisions, delegate appropriately, and influence and inspire teammates.
  • Strong inventory and documentation skills. 
  • Experience with Global GAP programs is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check as required by State Regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for at least 8 hours.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, and crouch in order to access equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Close visual acuity is needed for viewing screens and fine print.
  • Manual dexterity is needed for data entry.
