JOB TITLE:

  • Marketing Web Developer

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Web Development Manager to maintain and create content on a variety of platforms such as WordPress, Shopify, Rails Environments, and various other static site properties.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, and consult with the digital marketing and brand marketing teams to ensure the support of ongoing digital initiatives, IE landing pages, microsites, redirect portals, marketing pixels, etc.
  • Ensure strong SEO on relevant pages.
  • Work with our design team and/or design, implement, and test performant websites using modern web technologies.
  • Identify and call out risks around timelines for development projects that align with various in-market activities.
  • Ensure WCAG AA compliance and responsive functionality for new assets introduced to all sites.
  • Assist in writing and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Use CI/CD to effectively configure legacy environments to a more modern and functional DSP model.
  • Maintain and enhance analytical tagging on all web properties.
  • Support the Web Development Manager and act as a Subject Matter Expert in their absence.
  • Understand compliance requirements inherent in working in a regulated industry such as the Cannabis industry and liaise with the legal and compliance departments to ensure conformity.
  • Monitor and occasionally report on key web metrics, such as site uptime, traffic loads, and other internal KPIs such as outbound conversions.
  • Assist in managing a large roster of domain names owned by the organization.
  • Support the digital marketing team’s efforts with email development; liaise with the IT department where marketing and web development activities intersect with IT responsibilities and support.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in working on public-facing web projects both with and without content management platforms.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript both vanilla and frameworks.
  • Proficient with AWS or Azure for hosting, pipeline building, etc.
  • Proficient with one or more web stacks (MERN/MEAN, LAMP) with examples of prior work.
  • Proficient with Git workflow and version control.
  • Familiarity with AWS Lambda and similar serverless computing functions is an asset.
  • Experience working with motion graphics is an asset (GSAP, Anime.js, etc.).
  • Experience with eCommerce is an asset.
  • Experience with ‘web scraping’ is an asset.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and upgrade or replace outdated assets or “pay down technical debt”.
  • Ability to research effectively to suggest the best technical routes for new functionality to be implemented.
  • Ability to demonstrate autonomy and time management skills in an incredibly fast-paced, ever-changing environment where projects can pivot at any time and the developer needs to quickly review priorities and manage their time accordingly to meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of cannabis (strains, cannabinoids, types), competitors, and staying up to date with cannabis news as well as cultural trends.
