JOB TITLE:

  • Sanitation Technician

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans production area, rooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and windows as per standard operating procedures.
  • General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition by emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and cleaning surfaces.
  • Responsible for chemical use, safety procedures, and equipment use.
  • Under the direction of Sanitation/Edibles/QA management, follow sanitation plans, procedures, and training, as necessary.
  • Follow sanitation standard operating procedures & in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices.
  • Completes floor cleaning in all areas to ensure a minimum of contaminants as per standard operating procedures.
  • Replenish supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cleaning and disinfecting chemicals, soap & paper towels, and others as required.
  • Inspect premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
  • Prevent cross-contamination of cleaning equipment with work-in-progress, food contact surfaces, or food contact packaging during sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning chemicals
  • Adheres to all company GMPs and Safety policies.
  • Completing documentation for sanitation as required.
  • Follow OSHA safety procedures and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working in a janitorial/sanitation position would be preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a greenhouse, food, or manufacturing facility would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of sanitation equipment, cleaning solutions, tools, and best practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, customer-orientated and friendly.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Able to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance.
  • Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks.
  • Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE (95 degrees or greater).
  • Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as; reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details. Clarity of vision at 20 ft or more in day and night/dark conditions.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderate noise.)
