JOB TITLE:

  • State Sales Manager

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the Sales function for the Corporation, in consultation with the VP of Sales & Marketing.
  • Works to develop and implement sales strategies and tactics.
  • Works with Key Accounts in conjunction with the distributor sales force through “work-withs”, or independently as needed, to build relationships, increase influence and gain market and account intelligence.
  • Develops and implements tactical sales plan for the State.
  • Works with VP Sales & Marketing to set Annual Sales Goals, and define the strategies to attain them.
  • Evaluates and implement appropriate sales techniques to increase sales volume, profitably.
  • Provides management with market intelligence including sales trends, new products, and key competitor activity. Remains aware of changes in the market environment, and adjusts plans accordingly.
  • Acts as liaison between the management and the team, leading the team to make its quotas, correcting any problem that comes up, and motivating the sales team.
  • Coordinates sales, files important documents, and communicates relevant information.
  • Ensures the adequacy of sales-related equipment or material.
  • Responds to complaints from customers and give after-sales support when requested.
  • Works with retailers on every level (full customer service orientation).
  • Works with Marketing Leadership on Annual Budget and Resource Allocation.
  • Works independently and with Distributors to attain company sales plans in respective markets of the State.
  • Works with Sales Team to develop Targeted Accounts in Focus Channels in Focus Markets and to design and recommend sales programs for Targeted Accounts.
  • Works with Sales Team to develop key account relationships across all channels. Helps maintain and develop established account relationships.
  • Stores and sorts financial and non-financial data in electronic form and presents reports.
  • Handles the processing of all orders with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Evaluates the on-the-job performance of the sales team. 

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree – MBA preferred but not required.
  • Sales Management Experience (5+ years), preferably Industry Experience with a Supplier, Distributor, or other Three-Tier managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of spirit categories and trends.
  • Proficiency in planning market visits and maximizing a day with a distributor representative.
  • Familiar with a variety of sales concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on experience, judgment, relationship building, and creativity to accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated success in increasing sales volume, maintaining established accounts, and developing new business.
  • Experience with distributors and how to manage them.
  • Experience managing people (indirectly or directly) and cross-functional teams for successful outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 
  • Must articulate in a professional and personable manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to calculate sales figures, discounts, and percentages.
  • Must be able to travel frequently throughout assigned territory.
  • Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours to accomplish goals.
  • Current valid driver’s license and valid US Passport.
  • Clean driving record.
