JOB & CAREER TITLE:

JOB & CAREER SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the overall management of staff and store operations.
  • Works directly with the General Manager to develop operational and sales objectives, maximize revenue goals, expand marketing, and ensure sound record keeping.
  • The ideal candidate will have substantial experience managing a dispensary and/or retail business, excellent people skills, and a genuine passion for the cannabis industry and the wellbeing of customers.

MAJOR TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to staff, including anticipating future needs; defining objectives, strategies and plans; and working with cross-functional executives (operations, inventory/planning, finance, marketing, etc.).
  • Maximizes retail productivity by performing regular sales reviews to proactively identify business improvement opportunities, develop budget strategies, increase efficiencies, and enhance customer experience.
  • Ensures compliance with cash management procedures (incl. transacting, opening, closing, depositing, reporting, maintaining, and reconciling cash with POS system).
  • Ensures staff and store compliance with all regulations, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Partners with Legal, Human Resources, Marketing, Inventory, and Accounting resources to review and revise all staff management practices (including employee performance, coordinating benefits, fostering employee relations) to support a high-performing, team-based culture.
  • Identifies industry trends and opportunities that drive operations and selling agendas by evaluating the competition and visiting competing stores (gathering information such as style, quality, and prices of competitive merchandise).
  • Attends cannabis-related trade shows to discover new product lines, systems, and methodologies to ensure Between the Ferns Cannabis maintains best practices.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of cannabis; its various forms, its chemical composition, effects, titration, and methods of consumption and is knowledgeable on current Tribal Cannabis law, the Tribal-State Compact, and all applicable state and local laws, regulations.
  • Develops staff trainings and development materials to strengthen customer service practices, compliance with operational procedures, and management expectations.
  • Proactively solicits and collects customer feedback, utilizing feedback to implement new product offerings.
  • Originates, constructs, and assembles displays and showcases (following vendor suggestions or schedules) to attract (and retain) customers.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Because of the Between the Ferns Cannabis commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time.
  • Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

  • At least three years of experience in retail cannabis management.
  • Strong personnel management and retail operations knowledge (including inventory control, loss prevention, retail POS systems, merchandising, customer service, and budget preparation).

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
  • This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Ability to manage with integrity and honesty.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents relating to dispensary performance, general business periodicals, professional journals, safety, security and technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
