Job Description:

  • PGH Group is seeking an Extraction Manager to work in our California cannabis extraction lab. This role will work with the Lab Director developing standard operating procedures and ensuring all cannabis extraction products are produced safely, efficiently, and consistently and are regulatory compliant.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform extractions using ethanol, ethanol recovery, filtration, decarboxylation, degas, and distillation equipment
  • Hydrocarbon closed-loop extraction and post-extraction preparation for sale.
  • Optimize the timing of extraction batches to ensure maximum product yield.
  • Create and update SOPs for current and future processes.
  • Perform extraction in strict adherence with SOPs.
  • Ensure all products are labeled and logged into METRC.
  • Create the maintenance schedule for laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment maintenance is logged and recorded.
  • Implement, monitor, and perform calibration of lab equipment by establishing and ensuring consistent standards of use.
  • Ensure consumables are ordered in a timely fashion.
  • Facilitating testing of a variety of samples with external labs.
  • Delegate tasks to technicians and oversee all ongoing QC projects.
  • Audit production processes to ensure procedures and reports are timely and accurate.
  • Collect, analyze, and present quality data for periodic process review.
  • Review and approve of materials, equipment, and chemicals for use in production areas.
  • Document planned deviations or non-conformities where required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cannabis regulations and works with the Director of QA/QC to address internal and external audits.
  • Assist with a product recall or complaint investigation when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required based on business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum (2) years management experience in a QC/QA and/or laboratory role.
  • Ability to pass a background check/live scan.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience training others.
  • Comfortable working in and capable of setting priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with any of the following machines is a bonus: C1D1 labs, BizzyBee extraction, filtration equipment, and wiped film distillation.
  • OSHA training is preferred to support a safe working environment.

Pay: From $55K - 100K / Year per Hour
