Job Description:
- Initiate and execute petition drives introducing cannabis ordinances throughout the State of Michigan and other emerging markets.
- Oversee campaigns to educate communities and collect signatures supporting the adoption or approval of local cannabis ordinances.
- Ensure that committees, petition drives, and campaign management adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Serve as point of contact for state and local agencies, city councils, and other industry professionals on behalf of the company.
- Work with vendors for petition drive materials, and the creation and distribution of campaign marketing material.
- Manage and execute ballot committees and campaign finance reports.
- Conduct post-campaign evaluation and identify successful and unsuccessful elements.
- Maintain a deep understanding of new and existing regulations that may impact internal processes and industry compliance.
- Understand and monitor local ordinances, state laws, and other regulations in Michigan and other emerging markets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships within the industry as well as local and state personnel.
- Provide details of various regulations, procedures, and/or policies to employees and stakeholders as necessary.
- Attend meetings, conferences, hearings, and briefings as necessary to advocate on behalf of the company and the industry.
- Maintain municipal and state licensing files, adhering to strict timelines.
- Handle municipal and state license application process from start to finish.
- Act as a liaison between the company and municipal and state agencies throughout the application process.
- Attend local meetings as needed, throughout the application process.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
- 3 + years of Relevant Experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, significant industry and/or related experience may be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Stellar advocacy skills.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Must have strong organizational skills and be able to manage files, deadlines, and other time-sensitive matters.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work proactively and independently, troubleshoot, and work well under pressure.
- Must be able to identify and solve problems and work well in a collaborative environment.
- Significant industry knowledge.
- Experience in Government policy, regulations, and lobbying is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Pay: $115,000 to $150,000 per year based on qualifications plus performance bonuses.
