JOB TITLE:

  • Distillation Technician

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of sophisticated equipment for conversion of the extracted cannabis material into high-quality cannabis products for ingestion, inhalation, or topical application. 
  • Follows established procedures to refine crude cannabis oils to ensure the purity of the final product.
  • Runs post-processing equipment like rotary evaporators, vacuum ovens, wiped film distillation units, and more.
  • Perform distillation, decarboxylation, and filtration, along with maintenance of post-processing equipment.   
  • Maintain the accurate inventory of all raw materials, finished products, and by-products of the cannabis manufacturing process.
  • Reporting all quality control issues in input material to the Extractor they will be accompanied by.
  • Cleans and maintains all distillation equipment.
  • Updates METRC (regulatory Cannabis System).
  • Follow appropriate control measures to prevent mixing of dissimilar production components while following Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Stay up to date with cutting-edge purification and distillation techniques through various digital and print media.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product movement procedures.
  • Execute tests on required analytical equipment.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D at a minimum.
  • Experience with Distillation Equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and improve each operation.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An appetite to gain a thorough understanding of extracted, distilled oils and production techniques is a must, with obsession over maximizing yield, machine production efficiency, and quality of output.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing or laboratory environments in the food or pharmaceutical industries.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
