JOB TITLE:

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for Medical Services to be in compliance with Federal and state regulations.
  • Ensure that Physician’s medication orders are enacted meeting time expectations, including delivery to outside facilities.
  • Delegates tasks to certified nursing assistants, medication technicians, or an unlicensed person who is competent to perform those tasks.
  • Review and Resolve client clinical complaints; intervene in crisis situations.
  • Ensures the security of medications, patient records, and any other documentation required by the DOH, HCA, SAMHSA, DEA, and other licensing agencies.
  • Monitors charts for dose discrepancies and reports accordingly.
  • Knowledge and compliance with HIPAA and CFR 42 Part 2 policies and procedures.
  • Participates in Federal and State substance abuse training and continuing education as needed to safely and effectively perform the position.
  • Reviews toxicology testing as indicated and reports timely for patient planning.
  • Receives scheduled II and III medication into the dispensary’s inventory safely in accordance with DEA requirements.
  • Nursing tasks and responsibilities as the job dictates and as assigned by the Dispensary Manager, Medical Director, or designee within standards of practice.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be an RN or LPN with a state license with good standing.
  • Prior experience in substance abuse, mental health treatment, or addiction medicine is preferred.
  • At least one year of Nursing experience administering medications in a patient care setting or Home Health Care.
  • Accuracy of record keeping with an understanding of HIPAA, Federal, State & CARF standards & regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Fundamental knowledge of professional nursing principles, techniques, basic addiction medicine science, and of community health and welfare resources.
  • Experience in an OTP dispensary and solid knowledge of dosing and inventory is required.
  • Behavioral sciences field and/or substance use disorder treatment is desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and drug tests.
  • Complies with and is up-to-date with all other testing, screening, and credentialing as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Most of the time during the shift, the work is a hybrid of sitting at the dispensing counter in front of the computer and standing/walking for other tasks.
  • Will spend some time filing, printing, organizing supplies, or standing to perform evaluations.
  • Should have the ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • May be responsible for moving office supplies or carrying heavy files or boxes.
