JOB TITLE:
- Extraction Technician
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for safely and effectively converting the cannabis materials into high-quality, food-safe medical cannabis oils and liquids for ingestion, inhalation, or topical application by registered patients.
- Carrying out all extraction, extract processing, product formulation, filling, and manufacturing procedures in an efficient manner that also complies with FDA GMPs, OSHA regulations.
- Collect samples from different plants, test their potency, and record information about them.
- Daily operational and safety checks within the extraction room. Prepare raw materials for extraction.
- Maintain strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals, and equipment used in the laboratory.
- Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
- Promote a safe, consumer-focused, and collaborative working culture
- Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms, and working areas clean at all times.
- Operate equipment at extreme temperatures and follow parameters on a precision scale.
- Load and unload hot and volatile liquids utilizing proper hazmat clothing and safety methods.
- Monitor potentially volatile reactions as well as safely store and/or transport materials to and from specialized production equipment.
- Maintain an organized and clean production environment.
- Understand and follow all safety protocols.
- Record data for all procedures using computer systems.
- Stay current with up-to-date industry standards.
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21+ years old to apply.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D minimum.
- At least one to three years of applicable medical cannabis or related extraction, formulating, and packaging experience
- Proficient in operating hydrocarbon extraction equipment.
- Familiarity with, evaporation, separations, isolations, and fractionalization.
- Understanding of solvent and solvent-free extraction including safe handling methods for hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to successfully pass a thorough internal and external background check.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Basic Math Skills
- Basic understanding of chemistry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn a variety of systems.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Knowledge of state medical marijuana regulations and medicinal cannabis benefits.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Reach up and out with hands and arms.
- Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat, and twist.
- Strenuous hand, forearm, bicep, and shoulder work.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time (i.e., trimming plants, weighing products, and regular inventory).
