JOB TITLE:
- Hydroponics Technician
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support indoor hydroponic crop production with plant care and facility maintenance.
- Engage with the company’s efforts to enhance the production and crops in various hydroponic growing environments through the sustained maintenance of different systems.
- Cannabis production and processing.
- Responsible for all aspects of production: verifying the quality of products, trimming, packaging, weighing, and boxing.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of pods: harvesting, transplanting, cleaning, upkeep, and general maintenance.
- Reporting observations, including plant abnormalities and system issues.
- Develop and discuss alternative and innovative strategies for indoor farming and maintenance.
- Follow preventive maintenance procedures on all plant equipment in a timely and thorough manner under the supervision of the Grow Manager.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Comply with all Plant, State, and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates should possess an Associate’s Degree in Horticulture or a related degree.
- Understanding of hydroponics, plumbing, and related mechanicals.
- A strong interest in horticulture and specifically in hydroponic crop production is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in horticultural care of plants and crops preferred.
- Competency with basic computer tasks including using Microsoft & Google applications.
- Technical problem-solving and prioritization skills.
- Willingness to learn and implement integrated pest management, including the safe use of appropriate pesticides and biological controls.
- Verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Calm under pressure with the ability to problem solve.
- Works both independently and collaboratively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work in hot conditions (indoor/outdoor) for an extended time period.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces in varied conditions.
