JOB TITLE:
- Integrated Pest Management Technician
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement IPM strategies designated by the grow team.
- Ensure that all Scouting, Spraying, Fumigation, and Growing processes and procedures are executed in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that chemical inventory is accurate, and materials are stored and maintained in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and ensure accurate reports of the crop’s health and wellness.
- Monitoring and scouting of pests, diseases, and beneficial insects.
- Reporting pest populations, irrigation irregularities, and mechanical issues seen while scouting.
- Monitor the efficiency of products used for control measures.
- Maintain and monitor traps to provide feedback on pest counts to the growers.
- Verification of pest and disease infestation trends.
- Apply pesticide treatments in a safe, effective, and compliant manner to all phases of growth.
- Cleaning and maintaining all areas, equipment, and material throughout the cultivation.
- Ensures compliance with the organization’s comprehensive organic IPM strategy, including bio-controls, beneficial insects, natural predators, trapping, and spraying.
- Places safety signs in sprayed areas with required re-entry intervals (REI) information.
- Follow all safety protocols and policies.
- Demonstrates commitment to safety first.
- In cooperation with HSES, ensure that all personnel have the appropriate training, PPE, and certifications for their roles.
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 21 years of age (or per state regulations).
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Related work experience.
- Strong interest in agriculture and willing to work in adverse conditions.
- Working knowledge of agricultural practices, irrigation, and greenhouse systems.
- Knowledge of horticultural pests and diseases is a plus.
- Demonstrates ability to consistently meet productivity and performance requirements.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a basic understanding of cannabis laws, rules, and regulations set forth by the state and local authorities.
- Experience with pesticide use and biological controls, specifically regarding modes of action and techniques of application.
- Pesticide Applicator Certification or equivalent license is required.
- Ability to pass a respiratory medical evaluation and fit test.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods while maintaining focus.
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to stock or bring the product down from storage or racks and maintain the cultivation process.
- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
