JOB TITLE:

  • Laboratory Technician

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Lab Manager to ensure high-quality products and carries out day-to-day tasks including testing, prepping, extracting, and packaging.
  • Operation and maintenance of equipment for cannabis extraction, distillation, and other post-processing steps.
  • Following SOPs for all processes performed in the laboratory.
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of cannabis concentrate, lab consumables, and equipment in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager and fellow associates.
  • Assist in maintaining proper hazardous waste handling by ensuring all labeling and SDS binders are current.
  • Assist in production; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing plant material and supplies for supercritical CO2 extraction: emptying of extraction vessels.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.
  • Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, and filing.
  • Assist in packaging final products as needed.
  • Assist in the training of other technicians.
  • Work with state-licensed third-party testing lab to ensure QC.
  • Ensure operations remain compliant with state regulations while maintaining best practices.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and background in the cannabis industry.
  • Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals.
  • Basic to intermediate math skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an eye on process improvement and optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and/or with vendors, perform troubleshooting and solve complex problems.
  • Minimum 21 years of age (or per state regulations).
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Minimum High School or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science-related fields (Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, Chemical Engineering, others).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
