JOB TITLE:
- Laboratory Technician
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Lab Manager to ensure high-quality products and carries out day-to-day tasks including testing, prepping, extracting, and packaging.
- Operation and maintenance of equipment for cannabis extraction, distillation, and other post-processing steps.
- Following SOPs for all processes performed in the laboratory.
- Maintaining strict inventory records of cannabis concentrate, lab consumables, and equipment in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager and fellow associates.
- Assist in maintaining proper hazardous waste handling by ensuring all labeling and SDS binders are current.
- Assist in production; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing plant material and supplies for supercritical CO2 extraction: emptying of extraction vessels.
- Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.
- Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, and filing.
- Assist in packaging final products as needed.
- Assist in the training of other technicians.
- Work with state-licensed third-party testing lab to ensure QC.
- Ensure operations remain compliant with state regulations while maintaining best practices.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience and background in the cannabis industry.
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals.
- Basic to intermediate math skills.
- Detail-oriented with an eye on process improvement and optimization.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to work independently and/or with vendors, perform troubleshooting and solve complex problems.
- Minimum 21 years of age (or per state regulations).
- Must pass all required background checks.
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Minimum High School or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in science-related fields (Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, Chemical Engineering, others).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Requires standing.
