JOB TITLE:

  • Refinement Manager

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement standard operating procedures for all processes, products, and techniques developed within extraction and refinement operations.
  • Provide consistent oversight of extraction, refinement, and formulation procedures, ensuring standardized requirements and accuracy.
  • Partner collaboratively with other department managers including but not limited to, formulation, filling, processing, packaging, facilities, security, cultivation, quality, and compliance.
  • Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes the safe and proper operation of any/all relevant machinery, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Create and manage daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules to meet company needs.
  • Ensure the safe, accurate, and timely production of products; ensure cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of the production area.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP regulations, local and state governing bodies, OSHA, and other relevant worker safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure utilization of all internal tracking systems, ERP, and QMS to ensure consistent products and high-quality control.
  • Master various techniques and knowledge of equipment for marijuana extraction, refinement, formulation, and infusion.
  • Build expertise in CO2 and ethanol extraction methods, as well as, the purification, separation, and isolation of various compounds of cannabis.
  • Follows ongoing research of cannabis, cannabinoids, terpenes, distillation, and refining techniques, and new/novel cannabis products to understand the industry.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a similar field or at least 2 years experience in cannabis manufacturing.
  • 4 plus years of experience managing products, staff, and resources in a commercial manufacturing operation.
  • Minimum 2 years working in a regulated industry.
  • A thorough and honest understanding of the cannabis moment, including a passion for cannabis science, and application of same.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to recognize and respond to changing trends and priorities
  • Ability to work in and foster a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in mathematics is an absolute requirement for all operations.
  • Proficient knowledge of the chemistry related to all manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve manufacturing objectives in terms of volume, product mix, cost, and quality.
  • Extensive knowledge of environment, health, and safety standards in manufacturing operations is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or Google Suite software
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods. 
  • Requires consistent eye/hand coordination in a precise lab setting. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
