JOB TITLE:

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees day-to-day operations by managing multiple analytical projects related to the development, qualification, and/or troubleshooting of sensitive, efficient, and reliable assays for a wide class of molecules simultaneously.
  • Leading and executing the development of scale-down fermentation processes.
  • Develop processes that predict the performance of strains.
  • Supporting initial R&D studies to explore process adjustments for newly designed strains by planning, organizing, carrying out, analyzing, and reporting results of the studies.
  • Ensures test results are accurate and valid.
  • Maintains equipment and instruments in good operating condition recognize any malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Providing technical mentorship and guidance to other members of the team.
  • Perform testing method development, verification, and validation, write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintenance of current scientific knowledge in the areas of drug chemistry and toxicology.

EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in laboratory science.
  • Experience with analysis of pesticides, cannabinoids, solvents, and/or metals.
  • Experience in cannabis safety testing is not necessary but highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with food safety testing and requirements.
  • Experience with HPLC, GC, GC/MS, and/or LC/MS/MS.
  • Experience with the preparation of samples from diverse matrices.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office and/or Google’s G Suite.
  • Effective planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods at a time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Manual dexterity is essential to this position. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, preferably utilizing partner lift. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
